Pope Francis encourages members of the Pontifical Committee for the Historical Sciences to contribute to dilaogue between the Catholic Church and the Modern World.

On Saturday Pope Francis received in audience members of the Pontifical Committee for the Historical Sciences who had completed they plenary assembly. The committee was set up 60 years ago by Pope Pius 12th. He recived also participants at a conference for Surgeons who work with cancer patients in Italy. John Baptist Tumusiime reports. Nigeria: New bishop for Abeokuta

Pope Francis has named Fr. Peter Kayode Odetoyinbo as bishop of the Diocese of Abeokuta in Nigeria. The bishop-elect, who turned 50 on 28 January, has been serving as Parish Priest and Vicar General of the Archdiocese of Ibadan. Fr. Uganda: New bishop for the Diocese of Kasese

Pope Francis on Tuesday (15.04) accepted the resignation from the pastoral care of the Diocese of Kasese in Uganda presented by Bishop Egidio Nkaijanabwo. The bishop resigned upon having reached the age limit set by the Code of Canon Law for holding that office.

Pope Francis names Rev Fr. Bruno Ateba Edoas new bishop of Maroua-Mokolo in Cameroon

The holy Father named Rev Fr. Bruno Ateba Edo on Saturday to be in charge of the diocese of Maroua-Mokolo.
