Pope issues four new appointments


(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis issued four new appointments on Saturday.

He named Archbishop Antonio Arcari as the Apostolic Nuncio to Costa Rica. Archbishop Arcari was the Apostolic Nuncio to Mozambique at the time of his appointment.

Bishop John Ebebe Ayah was named to head the Diocese of Uyo, Nigeria. At the time of his appointment, Bishop Ayah was heading the Diocese of Ogoja. He will continue to serve Ogoja as the Apostolic Administrator sede vacante et ad nutum Sanctae Sedis.

Pope Francis named Fr. Łukasz Mirosław Buzun, OSPPE, auxiliary bishop of the Diocese of Kalisz, Poland. He was serving as the prior of the Monastery of Jasna Góra in Czestochowa, at the time of his appointment.

Msgr. Luis Fernando Rodríguez Valásquez was named auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Cali, Colombia. He was serving as the vicar-general of Medellín at the time of his appointment.
