Peru president emphasizes economy for Latin America

(Vatican Radio) Peruvian President Ollanta Humala who's known for his verbally hard hitting forthright views, spoke forthrightly as a high level visitor to Mexico. During his speech to the Peru- Mexico Business Forum in Mexico City, he warned them that they must take seriously economic development, industrializing the relevant dovetailing processes.

Listen to our report:

He lamented that this could have been started years ago, when the prices Latino nations would have got for raw materials such as minerals, would have been appreciably higher, reaping much greater rewards. He also said it's crucially important for the region to tackle and resolve the issue of the informal economy. To achieve this, Humala stressed that business communities and governments must cooperate and work together.

The Pacific Alliance established by Peru, Mexico, Chile and Colombia is already cooperating to coordinate this vital and fundamental transformation from grower to industrializer.
