WHO says Ebola deaths may be higher than reported
(Vatican Radio) The World Health Organization is saying that the death toll from the Ebola outbreak in West Africa may be higher than reported.
To date, the WHO has recorded 728 Ebola deaths in Guinea, Liberia and Sierra Leone, and one death in Nigeria. Liberia and Sierra Leone have responded by declaring public emergencies.
But WHO spokesperson Gregory Hartl says many cases may not have been reported or come through the health system.
