The Islamist group Boko Haram threatening Christianity in north-eastern Nigeria

The militant Islamist group Boko Haram is reported to have seized more towns along Nigeria's northeastern border with Cameroon and is adopting a strategy of encouraging civilians to stay, witnesses said Sunday. The Militants who are against Western education are now pursuing a new aim to carve out what they call an ``Islamic caliphate'' in north-eastern Nigeria under their black and white flag.

The Catholic Church in that part of the country has suffered many losses as a result of the activities of the group.
