Special prayer vigil for the family on eve of Synod of Bishops

(Vatican Radio)  Pope Francis will address a special prayer vigil for the family being held in St. Peter’s Square on Saturday October 4th, the eve of the opening of the two week Synod of Bishops. The Synod’s theme is “The pastoral challenges of the family in the context of evangelization” and the prayer vigil is being organized by the Italian Catholic Bishops conference to highlight the importance placed by the Church on the role of the family in today’s society.  The prayer vigil is scheduled to begin at 6pm local time and last one and a half hours.
