Mexico: reward for missing student-teachers

(Vatican Radio) Mexican Attorney General Jesús Murillo Karam, says the Mexican Government will pay  a $110 thousand reward for the location of each of the missing 43 student teachers plus information leading to the arrest of those involved in their disappearance. The students vanished on September 26th, following a demonstration in the southern city of Iguala, during which municipal police opened fire killing three and wounding twenty five. Prosecutors allege that local police then handed over batches of students to a criminal gang.

More than 50 people have been arrested so far,  including 36 municipal police, but the whereabouts of the missing remains agonizingly unresolved.
Mexico's President Enrique Peña Nieto has sent as task force of more than a thousand Federal Police, Soldiers and special investigators to the area. They've disarmed the local police and have launched a widespread investigation.  President Peña Nieto says those responsible WILL be brought to justice and punished to the full extent of the law. Hopes of finding any of the 43 alive now hang by the slenderest thread.
