Another attack on Indian Christians in Chhattisgarh

The District of Bastar in India’s Chattisgarh state has been witnessing an increase in violence against ‎Christians, with the latest attack on Saturday  "We demand the immediate arrest of the Hindu radicals ‎responsible for the brutal and unprovoked attack against 12 innocent Christians", made on October 25 ‎in Chhattisgarh, Sajan George, president of the Global Council of Indian Christians (GCIC) demand of ‎State Authorities.  The attack took place in the village Madota when a small group of believers ‎scheduled a meeting with officials of the local administration to discuss a High Court appeal by ‎Christian groups in the area of Bilaspur against the ban on Christian missionaries issued in some villages ‎of the district.  Instead of officials, about 40 activists of the radical Hindu group Bajrang Dalturned up ‎and attacked the Christians with sticks and knives, accusing them of practicing forced conversions.  ‎Sajan George told AsiaNews the Chhattisgarh Freedom of Religion Act 1968 is in fact an anti-‎conversion law, which is repeatedly abused by Hindu fanatics to arrest and imprison Christians, on ‎trumped up charges.‎ (Source: AsiaNews)
