Dilma Rousseff wins re-election as President of Brazil

(Vatican Radio) Dilma Rousseff has been re-elected to a second four year term as the President of Brazil, in the mostly closely fought contest in more than 20 years. Economist and former State Governor Aécio Neves  of the Social Democrates, surged in the first round, which Rousseff won, but was unable on Sunday to secure the fifty percent to win outright.  Now in round two she's gained more than fifty one and a half percent, against his 48.3 percent. But it was a very close run contest. What helped save the day, was the Workers' Party achievement of lifting more than 40 million Brazilians out of dire poverty in twelve years of their rule. Rousseff has tweeted her sincere thanks to those who supported her, vowing to boost the economy and to lower inflation.
