A priest and four others found guilty of murdering Bishop in 2005

A High court judge in Kenya, Fred Ochieng, has found a Kenyan Catholic priest and four other persons guilty of conspiring and executing the killing of Kenya’s Italian-born Catholic Bishop of Isiolo Diocese in 2005.

Fr. Guyo Waqo Malley with Mohammed Molu Bagajo, Adan Ibrahim Mohammed, Mahati Ali Halake and Diqa Wario Mohammed will be sentenced this week on Thursday.

Bishop Luigi Locati, who came to Isiolo in the 1960s was shot dead as he walked to his house in Kenya. The court established that Fr. Fr. Guyo Waqo Malley master-minded the killing because he wanted control of Church funds coming to the diocese ahead of Bishop Locati’s retirement which was imminent.

A sixth man, Roba Balla Bariche was acquitted of the murder.
