Pope Francis in Strasbourg: a visit with a European flavour

(Vatican Radio) As Pope Francis is set to travel on Tuesday November 25, to the city of Strasbourg in France, seat of  the European Parliament and Council of Europe we shine the spotlight on this one day journey with Linda Bordoni who will be with the papal entourage for the occasion. It's a visit, she says, which was strategically planned  to coincide with the Plenary Assembly of both institutions.

Listen to Linda Bordoni:

As Linda Bordoni tells Veronica Scarisbrick in this interview, while this visit may be taking place in France it really has a unique European flavour to it. In fact during the brief time Pope Francis is in Strasbourg he's scheduled to address both the European Parliament with its 28 member nations and the Council of Europe which has 47 member states.

Also outlined in this interview are some of the issues connected to the visit which marks twenty-six years since the last Pope addressed the European Parliament in Strasbourg. The date was October 8,1988 and the pope was Saint John Paul II.

In this conversation Linda Bordoni also unveils for us what gifts Pope Francis will bring with him to the two institutions.
