Hymns to be sung during Advent

(Vatican Radio) Monsignor Philip Whitmore brings us a musical meditation for the Second Sunday in Advent. One in which he explains how the hymns we sing during Advent take the preaching of John the Baptist as a starting-point."On Jordan's bank, the Baptist's cry announces that the Lord is nigh; come, then and hearken, for he brings glad tidings from the king of kings."

Monsignor Whitmore also suggests we should avoid singing Christmas carols through December.'Do try and avoid doing that if you can', he suggests, 'it's like opening the presents early'.
