Radio Pacis, leading the way in northern Uganda

(Vatican Radio) Fr Tonino Pasolini found himself celebrating his golden jubilee of priesthood in a somewhat unexpected way this past November when he received the European Solar Prize 2014 for his work with the Ugandan radio station, Radio Pacis.

Having served as a Comboniano Missionary in Uganda since 1966, for the past ten years, Fr Pasolini has been director of Radio Pacis, which covers the north of Uganda, and broadcasts in several local languages.

Radio Pacis was awarded the prize under the category of One Wold Cooperation, for its promotion of solar energy in rural Uganda.

However, as Fr Pasolini explains in this report, Radio Pacis brings many people together who would otherwise be isolated and marginalised; and serves as a bridge between Catholics, Protestants and Muslims in that part of Uganda.
