Thousands march in Argentina after death of prosecutor

(Vatican Radio) Thousands of people on Monday march through the streets of Argentina's capital Buenos Aires, following the death of a prosecutor who made serious allegations against the country's President and Foreign Minister concerning an alleged cover up over the 1994 bombing of a Jewish Center.

Listen to the report by correspondent James Blears:

Prosecutor Alberto Nisman was due to discuss his 300 page report with a Congressional Committee. In it, he had accused President Cristina Fernández de Kirchner and Foreign Minister Héctor Timerman of trying to obscure Iran's alleged role in the 1994 bombing of the Amia Community Center in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 people. He alleged this was to try and gain an oil deal. The Government has categorically denied any such  tampering.

Mr. Nisman's body was found in the bathroom of his apartment. The bathroom had been locked from the inside, and a locksmith had to gain access.  Mr. Nisman who was due to give evidence to the Committee had told friends and colleagues that he received threats.

An investigation has been launched.
