British Army band to play music with a papal history

(Vatican Radio) A  British army regiment band is planning to play a piece of music at Pope Francis’ Wednesday General audience that was given to them by the 18th century Pope, Pius VI, as a thanksgiving gift.  Pius VI gave the regiment’s officers three pieces of music and a gold medal as a reward for their military valour. The 10-man band is the Royal Armoured Corp of the 9th/12th Royal Lancers and at the end of the General Audience they plan to present Pope Francis with Calvary Lancers which are more than two metres long.  Accompanying the military band to Rome is Richard Moth who is Bishop of the Armed Forces in the United Kingdom and he spoke to Susy Hodges.
