Palm Sunday: The Solemnity's special bond with young people

(Vatican Radio) Pope Francis was scheduled to celebrate the Mass of Palm Sunday in St. Peter’s Square. Palm Sunday also serves as the final annual diocesan World Youth Day ahead of the 2016 International World Youth Day in Krakow, Poland.

“We are about to enter the most solemn liturgical week in the year, beginning with Palm Sunday when the Holy Father will celebrate Mass here in the Piazza of St. Peter’s with thousands of young people who will come because it is  a special day of prayer for them and their mission in the life of the Church,” explained Archbishop Arthur Roche, the Secretary of the Congregation for Divine Worship and the Discipline of the Sacraments.

He told Vatican Radio it is important for the Church to know the value of their next generations.

“Like the Holy Father every bishop in the world looks upon their young people as being a very secure future for the Church,” he said. “They are strong. They are generous above all, they respond without any hesitation to the needs of the day, and goodness knows, today there are so many needs.”
