Congo DR Youth: Young people today, parents tomorrow


Laurent Cardinal Monsengwo, the Archbishop of Kinshasa in Congo DR has invited young people in that country not to forget to access the Sacrament of Reconciliation during Holy Week. “Remember to go to Confession during this Holy Week,” the Cardinal reminded the youth.

Cardinal Monsengwo was speaking this week, on the occasion of the 9th Archdiocesan Youth Day. The 40 000 capacity Stade Tata-Raphaël (Father Raphael Stadium) was packed to the full with young people during the Eucharistic ceremony led by the Cardinal. The Stade Tata-Raphaël is a stadium most famous for its  historical “Rumble in the Jungle”  boxing match between Muhammad Ali and George Foreman n 1974.

Cardinal Monsengwo spoke to the young people on the theme for the Day, "Young today Parents tomorrow. " The Cardinal reiterated some of the key messages of Pope Francis to the youth. He then invited young people to seek happiness with a pure hear. Above all, the Cardinal asked the youth to take advantage of this year’s Holy Week and seek the Sacrament of Penance.
