Parents must help their children discern and nurture their vocations, experts on
youth vocations have said.
Speaking at the weekend in Nairobi, Kenya at the Holy Family Minor Basilica on World
Vocation Sunday, the Basilica’s youth Chaplin, Fr. Bernard Kabiu advised parents and
Kenyan society at large to help their children on the path of vocational discernment.
World Vocation Sunday is a day set aside to pray for vocations. A number of speakers
rallied Christians to live true to their vocations if they were to bring positive
change in the society.
“As we pray for vocations to the priesthood and religious life, we pray that the Lord may send many more faithful servants to His vineyard,” said Fr. Simon Kinjanjui, the Holy Family Minor Basilica’s assistant parish priest.
Fr. Kinjanjui invited all who are called to participate in the missionary role of Jesus Christ to remain faithful to their various callings and instill values in the youth while journeying with them in discernment of their vocations.
