Zambia Episcopal Conference fundraises for Cardinal Adam hospital

The Zambia Episcopal Conference (ZEC) has appealed to all Zambians to assist in the completion of Lusaka's Cardinal Adam Kozłowiecki Memorial Hospital. Chipata Diocese Bishop and ZEC Bishop Director for Health George Lungu said people should come forth and give more to ensure the completion of the project. Bishop Lungu said this during a fundraising dinner held last Saturday at the TAJ Pamodzi Hotel in Lusaka, Zambia.

Once completed, Cardinal Adam Memorial Hospital will have a larger admission ward, a theatre, a maternity ward and will provide services in specialist treatment.

Speaking at the same function, Ndola Diocese Bishop and ZEC Vice president Bishop Alick Banda reiterated ZEC’s pledge to continue the healing ministry through its health institutions as mandated by Jesus Christ to his disciples.  “Cardinal Adam Memorial hospital is a statement of our resolve and commitment to respond to the call of our Lord Jesus Christ when he sent his disciples to heal the sick,” Bishop Banda said.

Bishop Banda noted that since the arrival of the missionaries in 1891, the Catholic Church in Zambia had always been in the healing ministry through Catholic hospitals, rural health centres as well as hospices situated throughout Zambia.

“Through Cardinal Adam Memorial hospital, the public will appreciate that the Catholic Church in Zambia will continue to reach out to the poor as well as the vulnerable in society especially those who are sick and need the healing of the body and mind and soul,” Bishop Banda emphasised..
