New Orleans Mayor: city will see future storms like Katrina


(Vatican Radio) The U.S. city of New Orleans is marking the 10th anniversary of Hurricane Katrina that struck the area in the final days of August 2005. The storm and devastating floods that followed killed over 1,800 people and displaced a million more. It was the U.S.’s worst-ever natural disaster in modern times.

The Mayor of New Orleans is Mitch Landrieu and he spoke to Susy Hodges recently about the lessons learned from the Katrina disaster and the steps being taken in the low-lying coastal city to make it more resilient to future storms.
