American Jesuit priest on Pope’s qualities


(Vatican Radio)  Father Bret Stockdale, an American Jesuit priest, pays tribute to Pope Francis’ leadership and courage which he says has given the Church “a greater sense of openness and dialogue” and given Catholics in the U.S.  “a new sense of excitement and hope.”  He also said Pope Francis was helping to persuade “disaffected” Catholics to return to the Church.    

Father Stockdale, who is chaplain at Fairfield College Preparatory School in Connecticut, spoke to Vatican Radio’s Chris Altieri who asked him what he would say if he ever had the chance to meet the Pope:
