(Vatican Radio) The Holy See flag will fly at the UN building in New York when Pope Francis arrives there on Friday 25th of September to address its General Assembly.
And when he crosses its threshold it will be in the footsteps of three other Roman Pontiffs. The last was Benedict XVI, now Pope emeritus, before that John Paul II ( now Saint) crossed that threshold twice during his over a quarter of a century pontificate and the first was Paul VI (now Blessed).
Veronica Scarisbrick brings you the impressions of two prelates who witnessed some of those moments in archive interviews dating back to the late 1990's. They are the late Cardinal John Patrick Foley and the late Monsignor J. Patrick Carrol- Abbing. She also brings you excerpts from recordings of some of their speeches, beginning with Paul VI.
