Kenya: aid and development agencies look to Pope Francis

(Vatican Radio) Among those awaiting Pope Francis in Kenya are aid and development workers who not only bring emergency relief in times of crisis but are also dedicated to implementing long-term programmes that educate children, empower farmers, give dignity to pastoralists  and provide much needed health care services.

One of the Catholic Aid organizations on the ground in Kenya is the US-based Catholic Relief Services that runs many programmes that aim to help Kenyans who struggle with income disparity, malnutrition, degraded land and the impact of climate change.

Vatican Radio’s Linda Bordoni spoke to CRS Country Representative in Kenya, Lane Bunkers about the challenges his team faces and about the significance of the Pope’s visit at this moment in time.
