LEV releases enchiridion for Deacons


(Vatican Radio) In the week that began with a special Jubilee Year event to mark the 50th anniversary of the reinstitution of the Permanent Diaconate in the Latin Church, the Vatican is continuing its focus on the ministry of deacons with a new “Handbook for the Diaconate” that brings together all the major magisterial documents and theological and pastoral source material relating to the Diaconate in a single volume.

The Vatican’s publishing house – Libreria Editrice Vaticana, or LEV for short – has released the Italian-language edition of the volume, titled Nuovo Enchiridion sul Diaconato. Le fonti e i documenti ufficiali della Chiesa,  prepared by Deacon Enzo Petrolino of the diocese of Reggio Calabria-Bova and President of the Diaconate Community in Italy (the organization that represents the Permanent Deacons in the country).

The Italian edition is the only one available for now: it is 1096 pages long and costs €30.
