Kenya: Church remembers Cardinal Otunga

The Catholic Church in Kenya has marked the 13th anniversary of the death of Servant of God, Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga with a big Eucharistic celebration.

Speaking when he presided over the Eucharistic celebrations, Cardinal John Njue of the Catholic Archdiocese of Nairobi urged the faithful to emulate the deeds of Servant of God, Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga.

“Be humble like the Servant of God. During his lifetime he showed us that humility was an important element that we need to emulate every time,” said Cardinal Njue.

After the Mass, Bro Reginald Cruz, Vice postulator for the cause of beatification of Cardinal Otunga called on the faithful to continue praying to Servant of God Maurice Michael Cardinal Otunga  and more so in relation to the ongoing cause for his beatification.

“How many of you want to see Cardinal Otunga become a saint like Saint Teresa of Kolkata?” asked Bro Cruz.

Cardinal Otunga died on 6 September 2003 at the age of 80 having served the Catholic Church for over fifty years. His beatification cause begun in 2009.
