Angolans undertake annual Marian pilgrimmage

“Our Lady of the Rosary of Pungo Andongo holds Angola in peace and progress," was the theme that guided Pilgrims to the Marian shrine of Pungo Andongo this year. The sanctuary is situated in Angola’s Malanje Archdiocese, 380 kilometres east of Angola's capital, Luanda.

Metropolitan Archbishop of Malanje Archdiocese, Dom Benedito Roberto, this week led the more than seven thousand pilgrims in a procession of Candles with the image of Our Lady. The two-days annual pilgrimage also included prayer vigils, Holy Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Sacred music and devotions.

Pilgrims also used the occasion to give thanks to the Lord through the Blessed Virgin Mary for national elections that were recently held in an atmosphere of relative peace.
