Vatican Weekend for October 28th, 2017 features a report on Pope Francis’ general audience where he concludes his series of reflections on Christian hope, we speak to a U.S. veteran about his memories of the 1944 battle of Anzio in central Italy ahead of the Pope's visit to the American military cemetery outside this town, we find out what happened to the Pope when Hitler came to Rome in Part 2 of our series on the history of the papacy in the 20th century plus we find out more about the origins of the revered Salus Populi Romani Marian icon in Rome and about the Pope’s devotion to this image.
