Bishop Emmanuel Lafont of Cayenne in French Guyana reacted with joy when he heard Pope Francis’s announcement of a Special Assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon region.

Pope Francis has announced a special assembly of the Synod of Bishops for the Pan-Amazon region that will focus on the needs of its indigenous people, on new paths for evangelization and on the crisis of the rain forest.

Latin American Bishops join for reconciliation and care of the Amazon

Latin American Bishops are gathered to support new projects and initiatives that aim to safeguard and care for the Amazon biome. The third Meeting of the Pan-Amazonian Ecclesial Network "REPAM-Colombia" aims to define strategies and partnerships for the care of the threatened region.
