People around the world were shocked to see horrific images of children who drowned in the attempt to flee conflict or were victims of the chemical bombing in Syria. Tragic events such as these remind us of the importance to protect children from harm, whatever the cause may be.

Pope Francis told a Vienna “Trafficking in Persons” conference on Monday it is time to put an end to the “worsening tragedy” of child trafficking and slavery, calling the problem “a form of slavery, a crime against humanity, a grave violation of human rights, and an atrocious scourge”

Almost 20,000 women and children trafficked in India in 2016 ‎

According to the latest Indian government report, there was a rise of of nearly 25 percent in the number of women and children trafficked in 2016 over the previous year.
