On the second day running, Pope Francis has expressed his solidarity with Egypt's Coptic Christians following an attack on a bus carrying Coptic pilgrims to a monastery. His words came as he addressed thousands of pilgrims in the Regina Caeli prayer in St. Peter’s Square on Sunday.

Pope Francis on Saturday paid tribute to modern day martyrs whom he said “are the living blood of the Church". He was presiding over a Liturgy of the Word at the Church of St. Bartholomew on the Tiber, a shrine to the martyrs of the 20th and 21st centuries.
