Pope Francis begins Lenten Spiritual Exercises

Pope Francis and members of the Vatican Curia arrived on Sunday evening at the "Casa del Divin Maestro,” a retreat centre in Ariccia, located about 25 miles from Rome. They are taking part in the week-long Curial Spiritual Exercises.

The President of the Pontifical Council for the New Evangelization, Archbishop Rino Fisichella, celebrated Mass in St. Peter’s Basilica on Thursday morning to honour Saint “Padre” Pio of Pietrelcina and Saint Leopoldo Mandic.

Pope Francis on Wednesday morning sent an audio-message to the young people of the Prelature of the Pontifical Shrine of Our Lady of Pompeii, the first contribution in the “Keep Lent” initiative of the Shrine’s youth ministry office.

Pope Francis: 'Lent is a favourable time for conversion'

Pope Francis is asking us to live this Lenten period as a favourable time for conversion during the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. His request to the faithful came in his annual Message for Lent released on Tuesday in the Vatican.
