Archbishop Celli on the UCIP World Congress


The International Catholic Union of the Press recently held its World Congress for the first time on the continent of Africa.

The event held in Burkina Faso brought together more than a thousand participants including professional journalists, political leaders, and diplomats.

The theme for this years convention was "Media at the Service of Justice, Peace and Good Governance in a World of Inequalities and Poverty."

The President of the Pontifical Council for Social Communications, Archbishop Claudio Maria Celli was at the Congress and on his return told Vatican Radio that it is “very significant” that this World Congress was held in Africa.

The Archbishop also said that it was important that the “African people and various governments take notice of the importance of new technologies in promoting peace and reconciliation.” RealAudioMP3
