Pope Francis led the faithful in one hour of the adoration of the blessed Sacrament,
the Eucharist, at St. Peter’s Basilica on Sunday. The liturgy was marked by moments
of silence, traditional Eucharistic hymns, brief Bible readings; and prayerful meditations
on the Eucharist written by Popes Pius XII, John XXIII, Paul VI, John Paul II and
Benedict XVI. Thousands of the faithful around the world gathered in cathedrals and
parishes to take part in the celebration. Sean Patrick Lovett reports.
